Big Island map

Here's a map to give you an idea of the route we took. We started in Kona (in the west) and went counter-clockwise on the yellow road, with diversions along the way. Between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa is the dreaded Saddle Road - it looks like a short cut to Hilo, but with the road conditions as they are you have to drive slow and make way for oncoming vehicles. And yes, the two volcanoes look like very ripe pimples.
