So hip it hurts

Just a bit more about Cata 1.81 because vnchewie's blog didn't show the interior. We took a bus from our hostal at Placa Catalunya to get here. Again, we had to wait for it to open - at 8pm. And by the time we were halfway through our degustation menu, customers had to be turned away! It was a tiny place. We were hoping to check out the night life in the area later but with happy bellies, we just couldn't bring ourselves to hang around till midnight for the swinging to begin. We walked back to our hostal (yes, just to melt the fatty guilt).

An article in London's Observer newspaper on tapas featured this restaurant. Golly, it was recommended by El Bulli's Adria Ferran. We didn't even try going there because a) it was probably closed, b) we had to book a table like a year in advance, and c) we'd be crazy to drive 200km north of Barcelona to eat carrot air at a restaurant perched on an isolated cliff ! Uhm, and the $300 per head bill we'd probably have to fork out lah. Especially when you know the food, no matter how tantalising, would just go down the sewers the next morning! Hahaha!

I think we really live for food.
