WEEKEND GEOCACHING

We're running out of geocaches to find in Singapore. Only a handful left to hunt, so we always welcome fresh blood to the scene.

We found a geocache here last Saturday. Parks in housing estates have been nicely spruced up by NParks and we are always pleasantly surprised when a geocache leads us to one of these parks. Some lovely ones we've visited include this one and one in Ang Mo Kio that sits on a hill so you get a nice view of the estate.

While we were looking for a clue on a tree, we spotted a frog. We thought it was the clue until we saw that it was breathing! Then we saw two more under a branch! They are huge.

We did this geocache late yesterday morning. We were here before, after another cache. We had punched in the wrong coordinates that time and found ourselves here. We thought this would make a great hiding place, but the thought of maintaining a cache here.... well. Anyway now someone else has placed one here.
It wasn't a terribly long hike. Just a strain on weak knees (ie Rah and HB) because there were rocks to clamber over and it was uphill. There were a few rock-climbers about, even a pair just above the overhang we entered.

The ceiling near the entrance had wasps' nests and what another geocacher said were lizard eggs. We were very careful not to bump our heads on them. Clues and spoiler pictures weren't very clear. And another geocacher had spotted a snake, possibly a cobra, in there. So we were very nervous. I had to stick my head and torso into the most likely hole - but nada. If it weren't for fear of a cobra sting, i might have gone up further and out the hole at the top - dunno if it's big enough for me to go through though.

In the end, HB found the box in the second biggest hole. Didn't look very much like the spoiler pic. And she had to reach right in - with a stick, in case of snake - to nudge the box out. See how drenched she was with sweat?!

Check out the fun video HB did with the fotos we took!

We finished in time for lunch and, well, Galbiati was nearby ;)
